Flying probe test is a common method implemented for PCB reworking. Engineers usually want to use flying probe to conduct a comprehensive OPEN test on all nets, hoping to find out open circuit fault of PCB route.
Then how to program NET open circuit test procedure of the whole board? It is known that this work cannot be completed by the FPT machine system, therefore we must look for other approaches.
VayoPro-Test Expert is an intelligent PCB design for test (DFT) and test programming software. In this case, the NET OPEN test program could be easily completed with the software.
As shown in below picture, the highlighted route is a NET connection. In reality, the open circuit fault could occur in any section of the highlighted route.
In this situation, we need to test if there is open circuit fault of the NET and locate the fault. Therefore we just need to carry out pairwise OPEN test on all the connecstion of pads with the NET (SHORT is normal status, OPEN is in fault status).
For instance, if NET1 is connected with the five pads (A, B, C,D,E), we don’t have to concern the location of these 5 pads or their connecting methods, we only need to conduct OPEN test on these 5 pads in pairs (as shown in below sheet). This method could go through all NETs.
With VayoPro –Test Expert, several steps could help generate the NET OPEN test program. We will take TAKAYA flying probe test as an example.
1） First, perform “Nail selection” in VayoPro-Test Expert software to select all the targeted pads as the test points. Under ‘Nail QTY Setting’, select ‘QTY=All’, then save the setting and run automatic nail selection.
2）Export Takaya flying probe program, and check the option of ‘Generate Open & Short Circuit Test for the Net connection’ to complete the program generation.
